Now that you have the ingredients for Social Media #SecretSauce that we discussed in an earlier blog post, let’s talk about how to save time with social media and still get maximum results. Let’s face it, keeping up with three or more social media platforms can be time consuming. So, here are some tips to help you save time with the Big Three.

Remember, to keep readers engaged, you should post three to five times per week. With Facebook, you can schedule posts. Type your post and click on “Post” to post immediately OR click the arrow beside “Post” and click on “Schedule” to have posts appear later in the week. This means you can do all your posts for the week on Monday. Cool, huh? Want to cross post? Link Facebook to Twitter. Here’s how—just log into Facebook, then go to httpss:// and click on “Link to Twitter.” It’s that easy.

Same goes for Twitter as far as the number of times you should be posting per week. At least three to five times per week is key. You can schedule your tweets using Tweet Deck. You’ll need to set up your account by logging in at httpss:// Once there, the dashboard may seem overwhelming, but you’ll get used to it. In the upper left, you’ll see a blue box with a quill in it. Click on that to compose your Tweet. After writing the tweet using your identifiable hashtags, click on “Schedule Tweet” and schedule your tweets for the week.

Want to connect Twitter to Facebook? Here’s how:

  1. Log in to the Twitter account you want to associate with your Facebook profile;
  2. Go to your Settings menu’s Apps tab;
  3. Click “Connect to Facebook”; and
  4. If you are not already logged in to Facebook, then you will be prompted to enter your Facebook login credentials.

For blogs, plan to do one blog post per week. This is a little more time-consuming because it needs to be a beefier piece than a short Facebook post or Tweet. Once you’ve picked your topic and have written the piece, you can schedule this post as well. Also, be sure to set up WordPress or Blogger so that it will automatically post a link to Facebook and Twitter when you publish the blog. On WordPress, in the dashboard for posting a blog, click on “Sharing” on the left to connect your social media sites. On Blogspot, use TwitterFeed. Go to and create an account. Once that’s done, link the blog. Very easy.

Once a day, sometime in the afternoon, check your notifications on your social media platforms and respond. Remember, the key to effective social media use is INTERACTION. Thank people for RTs (retweets), like comments and/or respond. On blogs, respond to comments.

That’s it! So, what are you waiting for? Work your social media so your #secretsauce can work for you.
